Dear Friends,
Please join Children's Home Society & Family
Services for our inaugural service trip to the Santa Maria de
Guadalupe Orphanage in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala.
CHSFS has been sponsoring this orphanage for
several years. Many things need to be repaired or replaced at
the orphanage to better the conditions for the children living
here. Our work at the orphanage site will consist of general
clean up, repairing the ceilings, installing ceiling
fans, improving lighting and painting. We will also organize
games and crafts for the children. Come
experience the reward of volunteering abroad. You will be
sharing your enthusiasm, time, skills and energy, and giving
of yourself in a way that allows you to effect positive change
for the children and the community! Ready to
learn more about our volunteer service trip to Guatemala?
Contact CHSFS for more information. We hope you will join
us! Sincerely, Cari

Puerto Barrios - Santa
Maria de Guadalupe Orphanage
We will travel to
Guatemala City and then proceed to Santa Maria de
Guadalupe Orphanage in Puerto Barrios, 5 hours from Guatemala
City.
The orphanage was
founded in 1985 by a member of the community who was saddened
by the suffering of street children in the area. Today, the
orphanage is home to 28 children ranging from 5 to 18 years
old. The children attend school, but have little
else. The orphanage is constructed of concrete
walls and tile floors. Basic furnishings like beds and kitchen
equipment are limited and in very poor condition.
By spending just one week on this project, you
will have a life changing experience while greatly
improving the living conditions of many orphaned
children. |
