 | | Nurses care for children during the early days of CHSFS. | Experience and history. Children's Home Society & Family Services (CHSFS) has been working on behalf of children and families since 1889. Over 23,000 children have been adopted through our programs, half of which are children from other countries.
Knowledgeable and committed staff. Bilingual and bicultural program specialists work at CHSFS and are dedicated to particular country programs. They travel abroad periodically to monitor the in-country adoption process. Program specialists assist clients in realizing their goal of adopting a child internationally.
Reputable in-country representatives. Experienced and dedicated representatives assist and support adoptive families when they travel. They also work behind the scenes to coordinate the programs and oversee the in-country adoption process.
Expert guidance in preparing adoption paperwork. Our program specialists provide assistance by phone or e-mail as well as extensive written instructions designed to help you prepare your paperwork quickly and correctly.
Excellent service for all clients. Flexible hours and technology allow our staff to communicate effectively with families throughout the United States and around the world. The Client Login section of our web page features regular program updates, listservs and online newsletters.
Flexibility to transfer to another adoption program. While we do our best to predict possible changes in requirements or delays in your adoption program, such changes sometimes occur in international adoption. CHSFS families have the flexibility to switch to another of our international programs without additional agency fees.
Agency commitment to humanitarian aid projects in the child's country-of-origin. CHSFS has extensive humanitarian aid projects in the countries with which we work. These projects include child sponsorship programs, construction, repair and/or refurbishment of orphanage facilities, education and living expenses for children who have special needs, disaster relief, and many other programs. We are committed to providing continuing, long-term aid to children and families in other countries.
