Why Consider Adopting a Waiting Child?
No child should be kept waiting for a family
Contact UsGet Started
Every day, we talk to parents who started the adoption process looking for a healthy infant, but who came to realize that they had the patience, flexibility, sense of humor, commitment and deep love that it takes to choose a waiting child. By adopting a waiting child, you will be opening up your mind and heart in ways you may never have imagined.

On the practical side, many countries are more flexible in their requirements for adoption of waiting children than for general adoptions.  There may be a much shorter referral time, more flexible age limits for parents, or the child's country may waive a portion of their fees in order to increase the likelihood of finding a family.  Children's Home Society & Family Services offers a nominal fee reduction for all adoptions of waiting children. There may also be scholarships available.

Of course, the most important reason to consider a WIC kid is the love and joy that he or she can bring to your life.  Our kids truly are the best!

For more detailed information on the fees, travel requirements and applicant requirements for adopting a waiting child, please see the Country Program page of the country where that child is waiting.  The information there applies equally to waiting children, but with the potential for more flexibility.
