| CHSFS sees women and their partners in all stages of pregnancy, including those who have already given birth to their child. If possible, most birthparents want their child to be placed in the adoptive home upon discharge from the hospital. On occasion we do work with parents wishing to make a plan for an older child. We see women and their partners of all ages, ethnic and racial backgrounds, from all economic backgrounds and educational levels. There is no particular profile of a birthparent wishing to make a plan for their child.
The majority of children placed are healthy infants. Some children are born with a special need or increased risk based on exposure to drugs or alcohol during pregnancy. Because we know the birthparents, and they complete a social/medical history, you will have the information needed about the child.
