Target sponsors the Target Adoption Network, a group of team members with a common interest in adoption.  The team member group includes adoptive families, adopted persons, birth parents and people considering adoption as a means to build a family.

The network’s mission is to strengthen families and communities worldwide by helping children find permanent families through adoption.  This is accomplished by:

·          Raising awareness about the need and benefits of adoption

·          Supporting team members who are trying to adopt or who have adopted

·          Connecting team members with resources to help with the adoption process and to support adoptive families

·          Educating team members on how Target can assist them with adoption

·          Informing team members on the financial options for adoption

·          Working at the local, national and international levels to improve adoption laws and practices

The Target Adoption Network hosts monthly, lunch time meetings to provide information and insight on a wide range of adoption topics through guest speakers and team member adoption stories.  The network also has an intranet site to provide Target team members with adoption information, links to adoption resources, a calendar of local adoption events and educational opportunities, and stories about Target families built through adoption.

Although the group’s activities are primarily focused within Target, the network mobilizes Target volunteers to support local events such as Children’s Home Society’s Polo Classic and Minnesota’s National Adoption Day.
