Qinghai School Project Needs Your Support
 | | Child at school, Tibetan Plateau, Qinghai, China |
Children living in communities on the Tibetan Plateau in China's remote western province of Qinghai need your support. Education is an important factor in breaking the poverty cycle in this part of the world. With an altitude ranging from 10,000 to 16,000 feet, winters are harsh and living conditions very basic. For many, going to school is only a dream due to lack of schools and the distance required to | | Before: Tent school in remote Qinghai | travel each day.
This rugged region is fairly isolated, so it’s difficult to effectively support from far away. As a result, CHSFS has partnered with an organization stationed in Qinghai province to oversee a school construction project that will improve educational opportunities for approximately 700 children. | | After: New school in remote Qinghai |
The images here illustrate one successful project that our partner organization has completed to date: Replacing a tent school with a brick structure school house and dorm facilities in order to accommodate more children and offer greater protection from the elements.
We have a small start and hope to raise a total of $85,000 to fund additional renovations and new construction | | Interior view of classroom in the new school | in the Golog prefecture, including classrooms and dormitory facilities for students and teachers, as well as cover costs for new educational supplies.
