| Student Outreach to Foster Care and Adoption (SOFA) is a brand new group started by students at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Their mission statement says: Gustavus SOFA intends to create awareness and promotion for non-traditional families with the concentration of effort towards the students and community of Gustavus. Our long term aspiration as an organization is to have members of the Gustavus community further the practice of adoption and foster care. SOFA encourages advocacy, acceptance and action.
 SOFA has already organized a bone marrow drive on the Gustavus Campus and registered over 50 new bone marrow donors on the National Marrow Donor Registry. They are also sponsoring a viewing of The Heart Gallery, which is a national initiative that brings attention to children who are waiting for permanent homes and families. Professional photographers volunteer their time and talents to take portraits of waiting children and this exhibit is traveling around Minnesota this winter and spring. It will be at Gustavus March 6-10, 2006 and SOFA is holding a reception on March 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. You are welcome to join them.
