RCAA Formation History:
The Resource Committee of Adopted Adults (RCAA) is the first national group of adult adopted persons from different adoptee communities working together and educating each other, as well as the broader community, through a partnership with an adoption agency. The committee would implement its mission through special functions, community events, and other activities.
Vision:
To affirm and advocate for adult adopted persons and their families; and to create ongoing dialogue among Children’s Home Society & Family Services and the adopted adult community.
RCAA membership includes volunteers from among several adult adoptee communities, working in partnership with Children’s Home Society & Family Services (CHSFS), to provide education and leadership, as well as to serve as a resource to help guide adoption policies and services. We accomplish this by engaging in dialogue with agencies, organizations, and the community, which gives us a broad and diverse perspective when planning events and proposing action relating to adoption.
Future Goals:
· Plan and implement adopted adult activities, events and services with CHSFS
· Connect with the adoption community to aid in building a foundation to address adoption issues
· Sponsor events that benefit families touched by adoption
· Provide resources and support to communities outside the metro area
· Increase Diverse Membership - the RCAA seeks to have membership representation from adults adopted domestically and internationally
