| In order to adopt from Peru, couples must be married at least two years when dossier is submitted and can have no more than one child already in the home. If a family already has two or more children, they must be open to special needs children or children over 5 years old. In Peru, first-time adoptive parents must be open to gender.
Adoptive parents travel to Peru, to be present through the full adoption process (approximately two to three weeks). For couples, one parent can leave and the other stays to complete the visa process (one week).
Married couples ages 25-40 can adopt children 1-3 years old; ages 41-50 can adopt children 4-5 years old; ages 51-55 can adopt children over 5 years old or children with special needs. All other couples, ages 25-50 can adopt children 5 years and up; ages 51-55 can adopt children 6 years and up.
For singles, women age 30-45 can adopt children 5 years and older and men age 30-45 can adopt boys 9 years and older.
There may be some flexibility in Peru's age requirements; please inquire.
