Pathways to Children - Ethiopia 2008
Our most recent Pathways trip took volunteers to Ethiopia in January 2008.
This hands-on adventure to Ethiopia provided volunteers a rewarding opportunity to spend time assisting in the care of infants and children. Travelers saw far beyond what a typical tourist sees, and touched the lives of children in extraordinary ways.

Some destination highlights in Ethiopia included:
Addis Ababa — Ethiopia’s capital city, known for its fragrant eucalyptus forests, and site of CHSFS-run foster-care centers, opened in November 2002. Volunteers had an opportunity to assist in the care and developmental coaching of the 40–55 children (ages infant to 6) who live in these facilities while awaiting permanent placement with an adoptive family.
Hossana — Site of CHSFS’ child-receiving center in the Ethiopian highlands, about 150 miles southeast of Addis Ababa. Orphaned children from the area are brought here and then taken to the Addis Ababa care centers.
