Open Adoption: Many Faces, One Heart is an important 27-minute video/DVD which provides an in-depth, firsthand account of open adoption experienced by four families. It is filled with current and accurate information about open adoption and includes interviews of birthparents, a birthgrandmother, and adoptive parents. The video was shot on location at the homes of the families, and illustrates the interaction of the children, their birthparents, adoptive parents and extended family.

Birthparents describe their experiences in intimate detail in Open Adoption: Many Faces, One Heart, from discovering their pregnancy to explaining why they chose open adoption. They discuss the importance of developing a trusting relationship with the family they chose. They also discuss the benefits of open adoption, as well as the pain, grief, and loss that accompanied their decision to place their baby with an adoptive family. Adoptive parents describe their experiences as well, focusing on their relationship with their child's birthfamily, and why they believe open adoption is best for their child.

Open Adoption: Many Faces, One Heart was created to educate those experiencing an unintended pregnancy about open adoption; to assist birthparents in their decision-making process regarding adoption and their choices about openness; to educate prospective adoptive parents; and to increase public awareness regarding open adoption. This is also an excellent tool for anyone working with teens and adults who are at risk for or are experiencing an unintended pregnancy, and also offers counselors, social workers, physicians, attorneys, educators and others the opportunity to show their clients what open adoption is through real life stories of people who are living it.
