Non-Identifying Background Information
Contact UsGet Started
To answer your questions about the background surrounding your adoption, we can help you by compiling and presenting you with a written genetic background history only if the adoption was done through Children's Home Society & Family Services (formerly Children's Home Society of Minnesota) IN MINNESOTA.

What kind of information am I given?
Information gathered from existing adoption records is non-identifying in nature and includes physical descriptions, race/ethnicity, social and health information, birth and early development data, and circumstances surrounding the adoption plan.

How do I get the information?
After our staff has gathered the information, we recommend that you meet with us so we can help you integrate the new information with your own sense of identity. If you were adopted cross-culturally, attention is given to helping you understand your ethnic and cultural background. Whether you are able to meet in person or not, you are provided with a written copy of your background history report. The genetic background history information is a legally mandated service in Minnesota.
