The Adoption Book & Movie Club is a great opportunity for adoptive parents, adopted persons, and those in the adoption process to discuss relevant adoption topics and issues in a supportive forum. All meetings are free and take place in Silver Spring, except where specified. For questions, or to join the list for the next meeting's dates/location, contact Anna Petrillo, apetrillo@chsfs.org/301-562-6518.
To purchase books, go to Amazon.com and Tapestry Books. Buying books from these two vendors helps us to find more homes for children.
UPCOMING EVENT!! November is National Adoption Month. Join us for a special meeting of the Book Club with one of the editors of Once They Hear My Name: Korean Adoptees and Their Journeys Towards Identity, a new book featuring the voices of adopted persons, ranging in ages 25-53, speaking about their experiences growing up Korean in white American households.
Join us on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at 7PM at the Silver Spring office with one of the editors of the book, adoptive mother Marilyn Lammert, and several Korean adopted persons for a discussion and Q&A session. Books will be available at the event for purchase. To RSVP for the event, send an e-mail with the number of persons attending to: inquire@chsfs.org, or call our main line at 301-562-6500.
