Program for Minnesota's Waiting Children
Reach out to a child from foster care who needs stability and unconditional love.

Children of all ages need permanent, stable, loving families.  At any given time in Minnesota, there are hundreds of children in foster care waiting for adoptive homes and/or permanent family connections.  The majority of these children are school-age children who have experienced neglect or abuse.  Our Program for Minnesota's Waiting Children (MWC) invites you to become a healing resource for these children by adopting a child or sibling group and providing them with a safe and loving home in which they can be nurtured and encouraged to reach their full potential.

The MWC Program at Children's Home Society & Family Services has helped more than 600 children find permanent adoptive families since the program began in 1980.  Since 1998, a contract with the state allows us to provide placement services at no cost to families.

To learn more about the children in Minnesota who are currently waiting for permanent family connections and how you can adopt them, please click on the links at the left.

The Harambee Village mission is to create a village of African American and Pan-African children with their adoptive, foster or kinship families.  Their goals include creating opportunities for adults, children and youth within adoptive families to develop positive identity and self-esteem; providing access to information and resources for African American and Pan-African children together with their adoptive, foster or kinship family; and developing a community of safety and belonging that reflects the needs and identities of African American and Pan-African children together with their adoptive, foster or kinship family. Follow the link above to find out more about the wonderful events, camps and resources Harambee has to offer!

Minnesota Adoption Support and Preservation
As your family proceeds through the adoption process, it is important to gather as much information as possible about a child's background and any applicable diagnosis. The following link to the Minnesota Adoption Support and Preservation (MN ASAP) website will provide your family with suggested preparatory reading materials during your family's pre-adoptive process.  We hope you will take time to explore these valuable factsheets full of important information: http://www.mnasap.org/information/factsheets.htm.

Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
