Mexico’s Requirements

We ask that new applicants to our Mexico Program meet these eligibility guidelines:

  • Married couples or single women 
  • Youngest parent age 25-50; over age 50 may be considered for the WIC Program
  • Open to adopting a school age child if over 50
  • Married at least two years if no history of divorce; married at least 3 years if previously divorced; show a long-term stable relationship of five years if permanently cohabiting
  • Be in good health--inquire about mental health issues including minor depression, anxiety or similarly mild conditions; history of major surgery; vision/hearing impairments; mobility limitations or any chronic/long-term diagnoses
  • Have at least a high school diploma/equivalent or higher level of education
  • Have no history of drug use or dependency; where there is a history of alcohol abuse must be at least 10 years of alcohol-free lifestyle
  • Certain histories or criminal records are evaluated on a case by case basis
  • No history of arrests
  • Be able to pass criminal background check in Mexico
