Each agency working with Korea defines its Korea fees differently and this causes confusion when comparing costs. We have provided a cost calculator, in a interactive Excel format that will help you estimate the possible TOTAL costs for a Korea adoption.
Part I: Adoption Study and Preparation Costs

Part II: Korea Country Program Fees Korea program fees vary based on they type of program you will be working in. For the General Program (D.C., IA, MD, MN, VA (northern counties and Richmond area), and western WI only) the fees are $17,350 and for the Waiting International Children Program the fees are $14,350. These fees cover the costs of government and legal procedures and paperwork done for you as an adoptive family and for the child you will adopt. They also cover the work done by the country’s childcare and birth mother agency. A portion of these international fees is used to help support orphanages and/or child welfare development within Korea.
There is an additional escort fee of $3,500 (effective October 1, 2008) if a family chooses to use this service. A $400 processing fee will be retained from the initial escort fee if a family initially chooses to use an escort and then later changes their plans and travels. Please note that these fees do not cover your costs for an adoption study (home study), the CHSFS program fee, any post-placement reports done by your local agency, or miscellaneous costs for immigration clearances and local finalization/court costs.
Total range for general program: $27,000
*Fees are subject to change.
