| In November 2003 Children's Home Society & Family Services received its NGO (non-governmental organization) registration to place children from Ethiopia with US Citizens. Through our agency, over 300 children have joined their forever families since April of 2004 and many more families and children are currently in the adoption process.
Sibling groups, infants, and older waiting children are available for adoption. As with most international adoption programs, timing may fluctuate; however, our current estimated time of processing is two to three months from the time referral is accepted to the time a family travels to receive their child. Families who choose to have their child escorted will file final immigration paperwork in the US and therefore experience an additional wait of approximately one to two months until the child travels.
