At Children's Home Society & Family Services, our counselors assist women and men who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and are considering making an adoption plan. We understand that this is a difficult decision and that not everyone will or should make the same choices.
If you are undecided, our caring and experienced counselors will provide information and support without pressure. If you choose to parent your child, we link you to the community resources you will need. If you choose adoption for your child, we help YOU CREATE an adoption that is the best fit for you. There are no fees to birthparents for our services.
While you are deciding, we have licensed temporary foster homes that care for infants placed from the hospital. Usually there is only one infant in a home at any time and each baby is treated as a very special individual. Both birthparents and adoptive parents can spend time with the baby while in foster care. Caregivers put together a memory book chronicling the child's first weeks while in their home. All infants in foster care are seen once a month for a medical checkup performed by a pediatrician and nurse at CHSFS where checkups and immunizations are administered.
