Frequently Asked Question #2
Besides the CHSFS tour cost and the cost of your airline ticket, other expenses include any gifts you buy and bring with you to Korea for foster parents, Korean agency workers and/or birth relatives with whom you are arranging to meet.  Gift-giving is an integral part of the Korean culture, but we also recognize the stress of additional costs, so during one of the Tour Korea! Orientation Sessions (and in written literature), we cover this topic and give suggestions of appropriate gifts that will not hurt your wallet.  The amount of spending money you take with you to Korea is your choice.  Most people take $300-$500 per person, but if you wish to buy a large item like a Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing), then you would need to take more. This is also addressed at the Orientation Information and in Tour Korea! literature that all registrants receive.
