Frequently Asked Question #4
As soon as you register for the tour, you will be sent Korean Intermediary Services (KIS) registration forms as part of your Registration Confirmation Packet.  We encourage that you complete the KIS forms and submit them at your earliest convenience.  It is at this time that you would request a birthparent search.  Once the forms are received, a KIS worker at CHSFS will call you, clarify your service requests, and talk to you about the possible scenarios that can result from a search.   The KIS worker will then formalize and send your request to the appropriate agency in Korea who will conduct the search.  Your CHSFS KIS worker will continue to be in contact with the agency in Korea, but depending on the circumstances surrounding the case, some searches can be done more quickly than others.  You can expect to hear from your worker on a monthly basis as to the progress of your case and you are welcome to call and check in.  It is always our hope to have birthparent searches completed before our departure to Korea, but in more difficult cases, the search continues while we are in Korea and is completed, when at all possible, while we are there.
